Having experienced the thrill of Horse Racing through a work syndicate of 12 people run by a friend of mine and seen the ups and downs and many different views as to what should happen, I wanted more control so I decided to see how I could bring my companies workday skills in web design to the forefront of the racing world.
After
much research, discussion and deliberation it became clear
I would have to become an owner in my own right to get recognised
by the people I wanted to do business with.
I researched
the BHB and other web sites for information as to how to proceed
and I quickly realised the main obstacle was going to be time
and cost, so I would have to look at Partnership and/or Sponsorship
as well as finding a trainer who would help me buy the horse
or horses.
Having assessed the risk I decided to go with a recently qualified trainer Sylvester Kirk who I knew from his time with Richard Hannon because after talking to a number of them it was clear someone starting out was going to be more helpful and less expensive.
Finding
interested partners was also easy, getting money out of them
another story.
It was
exciting going to Ireland with the partners to purchase a
horse, but thankfully our chosen trainers wife Fanny Kirk
nee Hannon had done all the home work, and I just had to say
which one and don't pay more than we can afford, the rest
became a little blurred apparently you have to drink every
ones health in Champagne, fortunately we did not pay for it
only with head aches. Manorshield and Ascot Brew Racing Partnership
was alive!
